Want to address trade deficit ? then india needs to make more things the world wants to buy. Until such time the world will try its best to sell us their products.

^ Right, and that reminds me of the joke.

A tiny racing car was developed by American scientists. The Americans then sent the car over to Japan to see what the Japanese could do to better the car. The Japanese added sport wheels and an aero kit to the car, they than sent it to the U.K.

The British scientists, to better the car, added a sound system and window tint. They then sent it over to the Chinese, who added on a lowered suspension to the tiny car. The Chinese then sent it over to India.

The Indian scientists, looked at the tiny car, appreciated all the modifications the other countries had made, turned it over and stamped a sign on it.... MADE IN INDIA!!!

None of the indian companies that rebrand chinese products care about this.

For that a lot of conditions need to be in favour of manufacturing companies here. Rising costs of raw material, power, lack of water, land, confusing and high tax rates and lack of r & d all make manufacturing costly here.

Even if a company manufactured goods here no country would buy it if it was costly and quality was cheaper than the competition.

This is the reason why our only major export is call centre type of jobs. In coming years it will be taken over by Brazil or other smaller countries which have similar English speaking graduates.

Govt does not help industry in any way to stay ahead of competition since Govt does not trust people, so industry does not trust the govt and continues trying to rake in short term profits.

So when do we plan to address these problems. Or do we wait for the Chinese (a decade or so later) to bail us out. That is when the cost of manufacturing there becomes too expensive and they themselves need to outsource to other countries. Just like happened in the services sector but that isn't enough to emply everybody.

I heard India being described as a country of shop keepers after this multi-brand FDI in retail tamasha.

I would rather see govt enable the creation of opportunity than give handouts causing budget deficits. Let the people have their dignity.[DOUBLEPOST=1374826295][/DOUBLEPOST]

Very apt.

Brits set up the cities of bombay, madras, delhi, calcutta and bangalore.

We just renamed them.

It nothing, just like a big guy bullies the smaller kids in school etc since the little kid is not going to ever retaliate so the bullying continues always.

At least we stop playing cricket with the pakistanis when they infiltrate and / or kill our troops, shame ..... we dont play cricket with the chinese.

Its high time we should start playing cricket with them, atleast we will be having one stream to protest.

And yes .... if we all stop using chinese products we all will be back in stone age.

We're playing badminton with them instead of cricket. And their players get paid more than our players. See IBL or something is coming in august now.

They just want some food from India. They have asked for food in recent incident.
Chinese troops who had to walk down a long stretch to reach Chumar, sought assistance in getting some food as they had run out of their stock, the sources said.

While no food was provided as the troops did not carry it with them, some cans of juices were given to the PLA soldiers, the sources said, adding the Chinese troops then retreated into their area.

Very true, but it's not about Govt. not trusting people, it's all about red-tapism, corruption and politicians trying to look after their own well-being than that of country's progress.

to counter this threat , indian govt had to allocate special budget for mountain troops , which was to be spent on navy , now india has to play catch up in navy in the indian ocean

OK, this UFO news is on many international websites now. To the many prejudiced, this may look like a joke, but from technical stand point, it is very important for a growing up military to scrutinise and learn from such events which India did well:

- U.S. installed one of the first Radar stations to catch Russian missiles as they came over the hemisphere.
The rising moon was misinterpreted as a missile attack during the early days: http://nuclearfiles.org/menu/key-is...dents/20-mishaps-maybe-caused-nuclear-war.htm

- Drones from very long range also appears as suspicious objects. Military would have asked low end army men to look for bright objects in the sky which looked suspicious. Planets and stars are especially clear at very high altitudes than on plains and people from lower altitudes may find this unexpectedly bright. Note that the army took clarifications from Indian Institute of Astrophysics which is the right thing to do.

- Planets got mistaken as UFO earlier also.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Carter_UFO_incident
The sighting is said to have had a personal impact on Carter and his perception of UFO and UFO sightings. During his 1976 election campaign, he is said to have told reporters that, as a result of it, he would institute a policy of openness if he were elected to office, saying:
"One thing's for sure, I'll never make fun of people who say they've seen unidentified objects in the sky. If I become President, I'll make every piece of information this country has about UFO sightings available to the public and the scientists."
Despite his earlier pledge, once elected, Carter distanced himself from disclosure, citing "defense implications" as being behind his decision.

- Considering our country and its neighbours are nuclear armed, it is in best interest of everyone to be cautious and knowledgeable equally.
