Hi guyz,
sorry for taking out ur time for something that has been discussed a million times -- but still wanted a second opinion of u geeks before spending my hard earned money. going for a new PC so recommend bet

P-4 2.8 ghz Socket 775 + Asus P5GD1 Motherboard == Rs.13,600
or
AMD3000+ on Asus A8NE == Rs.16,500

Pls see that these Are DELHI Costs so let me know if they are ok or not. Mumbai may be cheaper.

Now abt the Application, the rig is Primarily for GAMING & GAMING alot.
but
also its a LAN Server which provides sharing of software, DATA etc to atleast 50 comps on network. No downtime is affordable pls take note of that. always used pentiums till now. The fearing part which im sure no one will deny is that supppose my Gfx card goes bad, i dont have a backup to get my rig going on till its claimed back off warranty & a PCI-E worst to worst card will be atleast 5000 right ?? thinking of the backup b4 hand

Also vedio editing is done occassionally -- but whendone is done at a vigourous & contionous level.this is one place where i have reaad many a times Pentium beats AMD, but need to know with how much difference. a little diff is acceptable

& other usual stuff -- everything one does on a PC ;)

Pls recommend me some good comparison betw the compo;s i meantioned above. THe budget is that only -- to much constrained -- i can only get either of these combos

Thx

Welll If its for not for gaming then go for AMD and if it is for Gaming then Difinately Go For AMD... Hope you got the point... If you dont then just get the AMD... Thats a nice combo there with A8N-E... Just try to get a Venice chip...

Also what graphics card...

witty aswer there Switch, Liked that. frankly my heart goes for AMD but i guess u know what some First time user's Dilemna is like

Venice is not available a all here. Let me know what is the cheapest Venice at what rates & where in mumbai (or delhi)

got a leadtek 6600GT extreme TDH

And what abt the graphics card??? You have not told which one you are buying....

I would suggest that you buy a cheap PCI graphics card as backup. Or buy a 6600GT and keep a 6200 Turbo cache as backup.......

But as far as I remember, I think you have an AGP 6600GT. If so, then it will not work on the A8N-E

hmmm...heard in AT that the leadteks are col and quiet....if thats the case, dump the gfx cooler

@aces : has to be PCI-E....

What you got confused and bought both or did you win them raffle... Just kidding...
Abot the availability of venice... They are easily available in bombay... i am talking about 3000+... Ask funkymonkey... His dealer had few pieces... And they are priced just about the sam as the Winne... Not that winne is bad but having a venice gives you bragging rights... I beleive Jedimaster crossed 3GHz barrier with his 3000+ Venice and DFI...

Dont forget to get some gooda quality RAM if you intend to overclock... Otherwise the transcend's are just fine...

for RAM I already have Corsair XMS LL 512x2, i guess is one of the finest RAM's--??

Double checked here -- even with SMC ,supposedly the biggest AMD supplier but they dont have Venice :<

No i did not confuse on the Gfx cards -- one of my good freinds here wanted the AGP one for his 865 chipset but he had to move out to US suddenly for an year. hence im laid down with that card also. i put it for sale so that someone in delhi may like to buy it

yeah techboy ur prices match the one my vendor gave me but as i mentioned --im in real tight budget due to purchase of two GFX cards in one shot. cant even stretch up 500 bucks.
just finalised winchester 3000+ after talking in AMD INDIA to Ajay bhawe who is supposedly the technical Manager in delhi office & kalkaji.

Try to do a deal with SMC itself for the GFX card... Hope they agree with you... I can understand your state... I was also with A8V for upto three months without the proccy and GFX card...

well thx for the consideration shown brother but it isnt a problem -- im a vendor myself not just an end user. I can sell it for sure, just put the card here since this is a Tech spot so i thought this place may get it out a lil fast.

well SMC is big dealer but they are not for endusers. The prices they quote are just not swallowable at all, even for general running items that are available in the open market. they are always too overloaded.......
