Compact camera in US, please suggest

Need to buy a compact camera for my sis in the US.

Requirements:
Good quality pics
Small/compact size
Good video quality

Zoom not so imp. Widescreen if possible will be good, else can do without it also.

Budget: max $400?
Was looking at the Canon S100. Good, but exp at $430. Would prefer something cheaper.

Also checked out the 1 Gen older S95, seems decent for $335, and hoping for thanksgiving sales

Any other good cameras I should also look at?

This one is great too but video is not as good as HX9V but PQ is noticeably better-

I am guessing these are larger ones (because of the ultrazoom lenses).

How is their picture quality as compared to the S95? (since the cost is almost same ~$300)

as per dpreview Canon SX230 HS is a top camera so go ahead with that...
