I have tried finding answer to the question whether a PCI Express Card V 2.0 or 2.1 will work on the above mention motherboard.

The PCIe 1.1 / 2.0 and 3.0 are physically same format, the only difference is the increase in data band-width all PCIe 2.0 cards will run on older physical slots without problems.

Certain hardware features like I/O virtualization will not be supported by older slots [PCIe 1.1 / 2.0]

For more on the same, please read here --> http://en.wikipedia....iki/PCI_Express / http://www.techpower...7970-Tests.html.

Also to sport the latest generation PCIe slot [PCIe 3.0] you will have to upgrade your CPU to a Intel Ivy Bridge system OR AMD's 9** series boards.

Hope this clears your doubts, Cheers!!

#ALPHA17 Your words?

6670 is a good choice but i dont know if seasonic an power 6770 as it fits his budget perfectly

The HD 6770 is a re-branded / packaged HD 5770, it has a maximum board draw power of around ~120W, so the Corsair CX V2 430W is also sufficient for OPs' set-up.

But as he has mentioned he already has the Seasonic S12II 430W [whic is better than the CX V2] so he has plenty of juice for a HD 6770 OR HD 6790 / GTX 550Ti if he can find one for an appropriate price.

Reviews for HD 6790 --

http://www.bit-tech....90-1gb-review/8

  • Good performance improvement over HD 5770
  • Reasonable pricing
  • Up to five active displays
  • Native full-size HDMI output
  • Support for DirectX
  • Noisy cooler
  • High power draw in Blu-ray playback
  • Requires 2x 6-pin power connector
  • DirectX 11 relevance limited at this time
  • No support for CUDA / PhysX

Reviews for GTX 550Ti --

http://www.techpower..._Ti_Cyclone_II/
  • Good GPU overclocking potential
  • Low temperatures
  • Low power draw
  • Mixed density memory chips help increase performance
  • Support for DirectX 11
  • Support for CUDA / PhysX
  • Limited memory overclocking potential
  • Still limited to two active display outputs per card
  • DirectX 11 relevance limited at this time

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

Thank you all for your suggestions; I would most probably buy a 6770; however questions remains whether PCi express Ver 2.0 or 2.1 card will work with PCI express Vesion 1.1. Version 2.0 seems to work in most of the cases; however Ver 2.1 card seems to have problems. Seen mixed responses / reviews ... Need clarification on this....

Should work as they are physically compatible. Any sources [links will be helpful] where there has been conflicts?
