CPU/Mobo Computer Crashes Frequently-Plz Help

MY pc Crashes when I play sum games like -NHL 2005,Splinter Cell etc

and sumtimes it crashes without ne program running
Cud sum1 tell me why possibly is this happening
My rig is in my sig
 
what are the system temps like ? have you overclocked the system ?

any error messages thrown ? the more details you give the easier it will be to troubleshoot this
edit: are all drivers up to date and also install all service packs. might not be the cause of the issue but should still help
 
Hmm I believe you would be using WIN XP. Does the system restarts randomly ? As bottle posted post your system Temps. As well as which PSU are you using ?
 
the system temps is arnd 36c without ne prog runnin and there is no error message
I am using xp with sp2 and widows updated to latest updates
I had once tried but i have brought it back to normal clock long ago and now I am gettin probs
 
Allright try the following things :

1. Run Memtest and test both your modules.
2. Try another PSU.

I am thinking its more of a PSU issue here. Also disable cool n quiet if it is enabled.

probs after you overclocked or did the problems start recently ? reset everything in the bios to default and try out the suggestions given by aces.
 
yeah cool and quiet is enabled
I will disable it
I dont have another psu
and yes I dont have the memtest application

Tht looks like a Ram problem, did u run memtest or goldmemory as suggested above by all????
it cud also b an overheating problem, but dnt think so frm ur posts.....:cool2:
 
no bittrorent or
only songs sumtime

and i havent run memtest coz I dont have a floppy drive
is there neway I can run memtest without a floppy drive or any other program
 
ah download the ISO from the memtest website it should be few KB and burn it directly to a CD. This would be your bootcd you dont need anything else and yes your cd will still be multisession.
Just burn the .iso image you downloaded to a cd directly.

ok i tried it for arnd two hrs no errors
guys wht shud I do
and the problem is quiet weird becoz there are no glitches when I play NFS UG2 or Doom3
 
ok guys my problem is solved-->
II downloaded nvidia forceware drivers 76.44 76.50 and 77.50
it ran stable on 76.44,on the other two I still had the problem

the other two are beta as far as i know... and ya 76.45 is very stable though...
i had this same irql prob with 77.50.... reverted back to 76.45 and everything fine now..
it was funny though my ide hard disk would`nt be detected once i installed 77.50.. dunno why?? lol
