Computer reboots just after loading windows

I am having a very old desktop computer with Windows XP SP2. It has not been used for a long time. I started the machine after connection all the h/w inside properly. It started fine with Windows XP loading screen and then the mouse cursor came and it rebooted itself.
I tried the "Last Known Good Configuration" and even safe mode but it happens the same in all cases.

What seems to be the issue ??

Hardware - RAM or Heating Issues

Software - Virus or Driver Issues. Even XP might be corrupt

cpu heating issues most prolly

take out the cpu fan and apply some thermal paste , and fix the fan propely over it

i think that shud be the issue

If it is an old desky open it clean it properly, buy doctor's spirit clean cpu, cpu fan, take out north/south bridge heatsinks clean and apply thermal paste. clean cpu fan and sink with brush, clean the entire cabinet from inside, take mobo out, clean ram and dimm slots, upgrade firmware of optical drive, also clean psu also, install fresh XP, it will be as good as new (when u bought it). if u don't want to do all this measure cpu temps see if it is overheating.

xp corrupt ....this has happend many times with me and without thinking twice i just used the repair option of the installation CD

Ok so it seems the XP is corrupt. But now another issue is that the DVD writer connected is not being detected it seems as when i go to option of selecting the boot device priority, there is no CD ROM etc shown there

So i connected a 2GB pen drive with XP setup in it. I suppose it is a bootable one. I set that pen drive as the first bootable device and booted the machine. Now the computer supposedly accesses the flash drive but right after the first boot screen (where press del to enter setup etc is written) a blank screen comes with a single blinking cursor. Nothing happens here, not even pressing any key helps.
