Well i have planned to move frm hathway to MTNL...so i need to get adsl modem...i do have motorola surfboard modem...but i dont think ill b able to use that plus i guess if i return ill get my refund money...

FIrst i planned to get buffalo n series modem cum router......I already have buffalo WHR-HP-G54 ...but offlate facing some signal issues frm one bedroom to another...though its not that big....

Its costing me 7.5k approx....

Now When i talked to a dealer he told i can get the model....but why u want to waste money better get both modem and router separate..and ull save 2.5k buks...

Now if i think on that line than again i already have the router...just need to get modem......Now they suggest 1.5k modem most probably dlink one..but i have no idea how good is that....

ALso while surfing came across Belkin F5D7632ak4A ADSL Modem with Wireless-G for approx 2.9k...i already have a user ready to buy my present router...but i dont know how good is this belkin model compare to buffalo and all

The only reason i was planning to go for 7.5k model was the upgrade from 802.11g to 802.11n...and heard its range is somewhat 10 times better than g models......

I need advice abt belkin model...since its wireless g model....and dont want to suffer later..than ill better get separate modem...do suggest which one to get as all i see is abt routers....Plus is it right time to shift to n level stuff or i better stick to it...

Budget is no probs for me...but if i get the expensive option ill have to differ my other upgrades for atleast 4-6 months....considering my lcd is not in warranty and i m planning to get a warranty stuff before i m caught dead

I'm noob when comes to these stuffs, but info about how much range you need wud be good for suggestoin from other members? do you need wifi on different floores? how many systems?

na i m on same floor......but i have 2 adjacent rooms.....and since there is lot of walls from 1 bedroom to another......get weak signals on lappy sometimes or dc

Bte the most important question will my present router WHR-HP-G54 suppost adsl+2 odem stuff??i know it supports dsl modem...but no idea whether mtnl triband will b supported or not

why dont u get the modem from mtnl and buy a separate router.

i dont know about mtnl but bsnl guys often blame any problem u face with ur net on ur modem if its not from them :D

i am using Buffalo whr-g125 (wireless g) and get gud enough signal on my room which is on separate floor. so range shouldnt be a problem for u even with wireless g router.

quality of bsnl router or buffalo's??

Mtnl for 800 buks they providing wireless router..........i already have one..but not sure whether it supports adsl stuff or not

My friend had a similar problem as yours. He also shifted from Hathway to MTNL few days back. He also has Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 and currently using it with the adsl modem provided from MTNL. So no compatibility issues there. Regarding configuration, you need to put all the settings in adsl modem and in the buffalo router choose Automatic IP in the setting wizard and you are all set. Regarding range, get this

I'd suggest you use the ADSL modem provided by MTNL and just pick up a new wireless router. Simplest and cheapest option. The Linksys WRT54G2/WRT54GL are pretty decent. If you want N standard speeds, the WRT160N is pretty decent. But realistically speaking, unless you have wireless clients using N-series adapters, you're not going to see any difference in speeds and not that big a difference in range.

As i already have a router.......i didnt pick the dialog box for router on the form...now need to see when their guys come for connection what option i have.....

Btw how many days it takes for connection?

always keep the modem and router separate - it helps when u change providers and technologies of diff providers vary - s/a dsl, as an example.

routers - my advice - stick to linksys and buffalo

firmware is moddable and that makes all the difference!
