Monitors Connect MP3 Player to PC Monitor

I have an old MP3 player 'Philips GoGear Mix' and I was wondering if somehow I can connect it to my monitor 'BenQ GL2450' so that I can use the monitor's built-in speaker.

Is it possible?

Yes i did that.
Sound = 100%
Mute = Off
Audio Select = PC Audio
But I can only use the line-in port when there's an active HDMI connection. The moment I switched off my Xbox, I speakers stopped working, even in 'PC Audio'.[DOUBLEPOST=1516105476][/DOUBLEPOST]
