Linux Convert Ubuntu 32 to 64

Nope, til now I have only heard people telling you that you need to reinstall because upgrade from 32 to 64 bits isn't possible...

You can try backing up your home directory (or separately backing up your preferences etc) but I would not recommend that either...

I simply reinstall then manually reconfigure all my preferences :D

^^only updating won't do, you have to compile 64bit kernels with all the necessary initrd and all :p

Apart from that you have to replace all the repo with 64bit and the update everything from scratch :|

Its just that downloading all the updates and softwares is a PITA

which is why simply downloading the single full 64bit desktop CD ISO and reinstalling is less PITA since you can start the download and leave it overnight or whatever... (thats what i do to lessen the hassle)...

I might stick with 32bit for sometime now....BTW whats the difference between the cd and dvd ? does installing from the dvd means i have less stuff to download and update ? when is the new version ie 9.10 coming out ?
