Cooler MasterHyper TX3 or Scythe Katana 3

hi guys,

please help me in selecting a cpu cooler between the two. i am not planning to do any overclocking with my current rig but may try in the future.
I have selected these bcoz these r the only ones which r available in mumbai and which fits in my case (bijli). My budget is less than Rs. 2000.
Specs:
AMD Phenom II 940 3.0 Ghz
Corsair 2GB 800mhz
Zebronics Bijli

I had a Zebronics bijli, I used a CM TX-3 with my old pc and I am using it now with my current pc. The CM TX-3 is a good hsf if you plan on running things at stock and expect better cooling compared to a stock hsf. The CM 212 hyper+ will be a good cooler for you provided you want to overclock and it retails for Rs.1850. The only problem you might face is that of having to remove the 2x80mm fans on the side panel to accommodate the 212 Hyper+ hsf. I believe the Scythe Katana 3, although I haven't used it, runs much more silently than the CM TX-3 and supports a fair bit of overclocking. Check the reviews online for the CM TX-3 and the Scythe Katana 3.

@ sunny27,

what's ur surface and core temperature using hyper tx3 at idle and load on phenom 955BE???

also, i don't think hyper 212+ will fit into bijli. i have measured its dimensions and only cooler with less than 150mm in height will fit into it. that's why i want one btw these two . hyper 212+ height is somewhere around 158mm.

increased budget to Rs.2500 Please help me choose the best cooler for my Phenom II X4 940:

1.) Coolermaster GeminII S

2.) Coolermaster TX3

3.) Scythe Katana 3

4.) Ultima 90

5.) Coolermaster N520

Isn't the Hyper 212 plus quite big? Would it fit inside a bijili? i too was going to buy that cooler, but i read on the CM forums that it wouldn't fit inside my cabby, i.e., CM Elite 330.. So i'd suggest the OP first makes sure the heatsink will fit easily inside his cabby...

@alpha17
I guess the OP was talking about the GeminiII S, which performs way better than the GemniII

I didnt like the performance of Hyper 212+ which i used before Noctua
I would recommend Arctic Freezer Pro (around 1.5K)
or Sunbeam CCF 120 ( around 2K)

OCZ vendetta 2~Sunbeam CCF 120mm.....both perform similarly are retail around 2k
I would prefer vendetta 2 anytime....its very easy to install and remove on AMD platform. CM TX3 too is very eay to install but it comes with 90mm fan i guess and a bit low in perfomance compared to CCF,V2

dude go for the hyper 212+. its the best budget HSF avaiable now. It will fit inside a CM elite 330 or even a Zebronics Bijli (might have to remove the side panel fan for bijli).
