From the test results can be seen, integrated memory controller, support for the three-channel multi-threading technology, and the return of so many advanced technologies to make a lot of testing in the project have a high level of performance, in particular the emphasis on memory performance tests, If WinRAR, Everest Memory Benchmark, and so on, performance as high as 50% -100%, is quite alarming. The Core i7 in the game's performance is more disappointing, the performance was declining, "Call of Duty 4" and "Company of Heroes" in the same frequency than the Core 2 a lot of difference, it is estimated that the initial analysis of the reasons for its cache Design, Core 2 using high-capacity secondary cache, has a very high percentage of hits, and the Core i7 only 256KB X4 together with the three-tier cache, the cache hit rate is low. Of course, not be ruled out due to the CPU or a model project. All in all, Core i7 compared to the Core 2 Quad has 20-30% of the performance.

then y core i7???

i thot it was an octacore!!!!!!

nyways !!!!

native quad core , not 2 core 2's stick together??????//

only a few games are truely optimized for multicore processor... may be future games will take the advantage of this massive 8 thread processor...

beside that i dont find corei7 attractive for gamers

^^+1 to that,

no point spending hard earned moolah on a technology which is years ahead of its time, i hope teh gamedevs waku up to this reality soon nuff to compensate for the lost time and unused potential of the multicores.

i think that onchip memroy controller might be an issue that actually resisting the game performance even with very high bandwidth as it may need special driver or something else to really take advantage of this... its my idea only

IMC reduces latency which increases memory bandwidth. memory bandwidth only does so much for gaming.. as iGo said its with the L2 reduction.. see later post
iGo said:
^... it's more like L2 cache size reduction that is causing it.
right because intel set L2 to 256Kb per core and its L2 is not shared like Core 2 arch. intel traded off more L2 for a connection to the cores via 8MB L3. which can have its benifits just not in gaming, its better for number crunching or FAH/SETI type apps. Going with L3 which does run slower means yeilds will be higher then normal. cause getting L2 which runs at full cpu speed is much harder to get more of with ever increasing cpu clocks. now L3 on the cpu should be running half of the cpu speed, though from my reading. the L3 is runing either 75% or 80% of the QP/CSI buss speed. i forget the exact numbers on the L3 speed but they are floating around.
