Laptops Core2Duo or Core i7M?

Looking for a new lappy. I'm confused whether to go for Core i7M (4 cores but lower clock speed) or Core2Duo (2cores but higher clock speed).

Usage : Video recordings, Internet, office work, Multitasking.

Also, would DDR3 provide any substantial speed boost over DDR2?

Dude! go for Corei7 one!!

Its got a turbo mode built in which increases the core speed of a single or two cores to upto 3.2GHz(varies for different Corei7 processors) depending on load!!

Great for gaming and multitasking IMO!

C2D and their high clocks are old news!

I hope you have read some reviews.

Core i7m does not provide much boost against a core 2 quad. It consumes more power too. IMO, stay with a core 2 quad.

^yes they are, but pretty overpriced...You get HP DV7s in delhi with a Q9000 and 1GB 4650 for some Rs73k .... too much na ? get it from the US if you can..

-1 to i7m

->consumes too much power

->produce more heat

->expensive

+1 to p8700

->vfm

->ideal proccessor for laptops

Performance wise i7m leads but considering other factors as well p8700 is better.

Its a mixed bag really:

If you are someone who cares about Battery life/Mobility/Heat dissipation - P8700 is the best bet.

Desktop replacement - Only performance matters - Then i7 laptop...

core i7m are power hungry cpu's. ideally you don't generally require 4 cores in laptop.

so you can stick with 2 cores. you can look out for arrandale cpu's coming in January next year based on 32nm.
