CPU/Mobo Core2Quad or Core i7 - which one is better?

IMO core 2 quad is better in price/performance ratio and core i7 is better if you only consider performance.

Entirely depends on ur budget. If u have deep enough pockets then yes go for the Corei i7 but remember its a diff pin config and needs DDR3.

But if its me i would go with a Quad and settle down until the prices of the i7 equates the performance or till the 32nm version comes out, but thats just me.

even the lowest core i7 processor beats than the latest core2quad by milestone and thats Core i7 280. In US its just 290$.

if you go with that, then Mobo, DD3 the price just goes up to good degree.
