Guide
hi,
guys i have gigabyte g31m-e2sl mobo.I was using p4 3.0ghz ht before.now i upgraded to c2d e7500.

Now the problem is the system boots properly.but whenever i try to run 'speedfan' to see the temperature the system goes haywire with blue screen flickering and then all black no response. Even the manual restart and on off buttons dosen't responds.

sometimes it also behaves like the old p4 i mean slow response.

From bios i found out the idle temp of the cpu is around 40-43 deg c.Is it normal.what is the problem why cant i run speed fan please help.

Though your idle temps are slightly high, they are acceptable.

Have you tried running other programs/softwares? What is the response then?

You can try HWmonitor or Everest to see your system temps as well.

well i ran two games and they ran well. But the installation of some softwares takes almost the same time it used to take for p4.
Well Installation time isn't related to processor speed,it's related to your HDD data Read/Write Speeds. i.e more the Read/Write speed less the installation time

is the particular printshot taken during a game or during normal work. B'coz that temp for a 8500 gt at idle is high. Remove the Gfx Card and see if the problem persists.

Also try to reseat the cpu after cleaning and re-applying Thermal Paste, take care while putting the heat sink, because the stock heat sinks are those clip type so you might want to check the heat sink again.

If i were you, i would first run stability tests for cpu, ram, hdd and gfx to check if they are fine and then check for hardware issues.

Speedfan has had issues with some of my previous builds as well. Throws BSODs randomly. Why are you so hellbent on running Speedfan anyway? There are tons of other apps which would let you monitor the temperatures, voltages et al. Real Temp for eg. lets you monitor the temperatures of the CPU cores.

What are the RAM and hard drive specs? Your system's performance cannot be judged merely with the processor's performance you know!

Thanks for the reply guys.then can someone please tell why speedfan is making this problem.
I also used to face BSOD at times using SpeedFan. Try other applications.

8500GT temps are normal for a passively cooled card. Although you could try reapplying TIM on both the GPU and the CPU and install them properly again. Carry out a minor stress test on PRIME95/Orthos just to be sure. This way you can single out any problem, if at all any exists.

And as is clear from above posts, Speedfan does seem to have some issues. Use other temp monitoring utilities.

alright thanks for the reply guys.Well i am using a different program now as you can see from the screenshot.:bleh:
Now lol In two years i have replaced my card two times already.60deg cel is the idle temp for the 8500gt and at load it touches even 95 deg cel.lol

well i have 2gb 800mhz ddr2 ram.and an ide 80 gb hdd.(samsung or seagate maybe)

anyways i again thank you all for replying.:)
