CPU/Mobo cpu temp...??

hi...
m using c2d E7400 and in bios the cpu temp is abt 54..... is dat on a higher side.. its a brand new proc..

BIOS huh? So that the idle temperature. Check if your heatsink is seated properly.

every time i switch on my pc... it shows 54... nd ya it is seated properly..any other suggestions..

how old is the rig?

you may try opening up cleaning ... brushing of dust.... reapplying coolant and bringing all parts together ....

Have u used thermal paste? If not then apply it. Ur temp is not much high but it should be less then 48 IMO.

To folks with all these temp worries: with a stock HS, your temps will be at least 10 to 15 degrees above the ambient temp at idle/normal usage. If you stress your CPU it can easily be above 25 to 30 degrees above ambient temp.

And you need to remember that it's summer time in India now

@op : I use the same proccy. used to get temp @2.8Ghz [speedstep off] at arnd 50*C idle and 69 at full load with the stock cooler..so i think your temp are normal with a stock fan.
