Crackling with my speakers: Help

Hey folks

Me gotta Altec Lansing VS4121 (2.1) Speaker hooked up to my mobo (P5Q Pro) for the last coupla days i've been hearing a lot of crackling sounds when i play anything with "bass" and it comes only if the movie or song has high beats in it.

I've tried cleaning the cables, the pin holes and bringing down the windows volume to 60% and installing the new driver 2.06 Realtek but still nothing.

oh im using Vista x64. so is there anything i can do or should i send this for Service. please help me out

Did you try using some other source instead? Like an mp3 player?

If the same happens with it, then probably its the fault of the speakers.

Plug into some TV/friend's ipod or walkman series phone.

alternately, try listening with earphones to your PC's output

Your speakers might be having a single stereo jack right ? Check if your mobo onboard sound card is set to 2.1 mode; and then try playing music off it. Don't wipe clean the speakers too much I have a misfortune because of it.

guys i did a windows restore a coupla days back could that be the reason???

Have you tried reducing the level of the wave device in the volume control? Some integrated audio (my Soundmax, for example) crackles when this is set above 80%.
