Credit or Debit Card

Hi Friends
I have had issues with 3 credit card companies in the past, there were mistakes from both ends and I was being charged for their mistakes too. Thus ended up fighting with them and credit card being suspended for non payment of late payment fee. This was 4 yrs back and above. Thus when I apply now also the same gets rejected from the same institutes. Never tried to apparoach any new ones though.
I regularly buy a few things online from international website, I was using HDFC Debit card. It seems their Virtual card is non functional since a fortnight and no idea when its expected to be back.
Any guidance which Debit card I can opt for which shall be accepted on Paypal as well as other international websites.

i know that Citibank debit card works on Paypal. but it didn't work for international sites 2 years back. didn't check it recently.

you seriously need to sort out your CC issue otherwise it'll blow up to humongous amounts. CC companies share information with other financial institutions and this may impact your ability to take loans in the future. indian CCs are out of question but you never know if your chances of getting a CC abroad are affected too. they may have cancelled your CC but you can't be sure about that unless they've given you a written statement. the words "closed" and "settled" as the final status in that letter are two different things and this can be the reason for your CC rejections. your cards may still be piling up late fees. otherwise no one has a reason to reject your CC application. you must have some outstanding amount.

i'd would suggest that you get a CIBIL report (they are fraud too but there's nothing else you can do) and sort out your dues. they may reduce the damages if you approach your previous CC companies nicely. i am sure you'll find other surprises too in your CIBIL report.

and don't ignore those stray reports of collection goons showing up at someone's door. such things happen for real, even after SC's ruling.

Get an ICICI B2 branchfree account. They provide a VCC whose card number is fixed(i.e unlike the HDFC NetSafe ones). It is a VISA card.
I am using it with Paypal.
