no, its possible with cards in same class. You can pair up to X1600 series or two x8xx series or two x1800 series but not x1600 and x1800.

Wrong :bangin: !!!! You can Cross fire using a mastercard and any cross fire ready card. Not necessory it should be of the same class.

But r u sure ur x1600 is crossfire ready. It should be to get into crossfire.

i think the 1600xt will be crossfire ready as u can pair two of them without the need of an external dongle. only the 1800xt needs to be a crossfire edition card.

No that wont be possible u need one Mastercard to get into crossfire. If u look at a mastercard u will see a diff type of display port.

not for x1600. you dont need master card for all.

With cat 6.4 you can crossfire upto x1800gto without need of master card. For X1900 series you must have the master card for now as the PCI express bus is not sufficient for these card. For rest of the cards it will work without the need of master card.

No ur absolutely wrong. Crossfire is done through a cable that fits in the mastercards Special xfire port. Crossfire ready card dont have any special port.

just for reference click here You will see that it has a special port that makes xfire possible. How is it possible to connect two xfire ready card.

Do you think i dont know that????

That port servs as a communication / sync link between the two cards.

With new drivers all that is taken care through the PCI express bus.

People are running X1600XT systems just fine without need of master card. Search a google, you will find results.

EDIT : here is a link for the same.

Crossfire needs two cards of the same family... say x1600 and x1600 or x1800xt and x1800xt crossfire edition or x1900xt/x and crossfire edition x1900xt. Only the crossfire editions require a dongle. All cards upto x1800gto don't require dongles.

Agrees with you. I say if ur going to buy a new card, sell ur x1600 n add the earned money for a new x1900xt, considering u were already going to buy a x1800xt
