DX10 testing of DAAMIT's latest Radeon 2900 XT has shown that its performance is lacking when it comes to Company of Heroes, the first DX10 game released to much fanfare last week.
Reviews have popped up all over the wibble, with Nate 'Goatee Gimp' Kirsch offering one of the best. And by best we mean succinct.

Running a Core 2 Duo system, as is de rigeur for the enthusiast these days, the Radeon 2900 XT came out below the 8800 GTS at both 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 with and without AA (and that's even with the AA set at guidelines that the boys at DAAMIT recommend).

The gap isn't much, but there's a good 10-15 per cent difference between the two cards, and this is rather disappointing for a card that has been repeatedly marketed as future proof.

It seems that DX10 remains Nvidia's game right now

Hmm, this doesnt like good news for AMD as well as end users as it looks as its gonna be all Nvidia this round!

well.....so its nice i am going with my 88gts 320MB now......might gimme playable frames on 1024 with COH dx10......if not dx9 zindabad for now.....lol

Nvidia has got a head start in the DX10 cards its gona take a lot time and some miracle for the 2900 to get close to the 8800. HDR and AA being a strong factor for ATI cards it still could not come close the 8800 since Nvidia was know for not keeping up with HDR and AA inthe mid range 7 series cards

yeah i think after the lesson they were tought by the x19xx series . they made a lot of improvements in the HDR + AA/AF dept and seems ahead of ATi once again.....but i hope ATi comes back with a bang or sumthin so we can reap the beneifits...

Yeah you'll have to install vista if you want the directx10 version ... actually the past few driver releases for vista have been really good, the performance difference between xp and vista has certainly been reduced ... even cod is playable with vista and directx10 if all options are not set to max
