Smartwatch are great motivator tool and worthy investment. Even I get excited when Garmin shows Altitude gain when I am slowly gaining height in mountains...I know the Mountain height so when I gasping for air and see only few hundred feets remaining . I get that important final push to keep going.No quote but my Apple Watch is a great motivator for me. I go for morning brisk walk + jogs 5 days a week in the garden near my home.
I started with 4 kms daily and only walk and then little jogs and such now I can do 6 kms daily walk + jog (out of this 4 kms is continously jogging) and in intend to gradually increase this.
Looking at apple watch while doing this and it shows say 5.73 kms and I am trying to give up but that 0.27 remaining is what my watch pushes me to do.
Also, at every km completion, it says "split pace split 1, 9.15 minutes per km" which means it took me 9.15 minutes to do that 1 km so I am motivated to make sure next km is done in shorter time.
