Just had some questions regarding dealer/deal protocols. Since I have not taken part in too many GOs or direct deals.

1. Does the dealer notify us, that money has been received. Or not received, if we argue, that we made the transaction. I.E. implies a failed transaction..?

2. How are time lines defined. Is "will ship soon, next week" fine..? No exact date given..?

3. How much do dealers communicate with customers..?

Am saying this, cause have read quite a few deals here, and it seems that a lot of it is happening in the 'grey'. Not illegal sense, but not clear and definitive. Or does most of the communication happen via PM / private mails -- for privacy reasons. I participated in one deal -- and am just standing in the fog. Not sure if the money was received, and when will it ship, ETA. Not too worried, cause the dealer has a good reputation, but I like things clear when dishing out money.

Guess it's me heh :ashamed:

Sorry for not updating, but as many others can vouch also, HDFC online banking has been on the brink for the last couple of days, plus my lian-li consignment was nearly in a fire at the customs house so was pretty busy with that. But i really should have informed everyone for which i am sorry :)

As far as your query stands, you have the right to know since you are trusting us with your money. You should be made aware if the payment has been cleared and the ETA, since well, i would expect the same. I generally do make a point to either call personally or drop a PM with the above information, but as i stated, the gods weren't pleased with me i guess this time around :P Even right now my HDFC is down so cant confirm :(

On to flaming me.

Phoenix:

It is understandable that there were some issues regarding your shipments and the banking portal being non-operational. I guess, this has been an one-off case. Thanks for the clarification. Hope things get sorted out, and we can receive our hardware. As a personal request -- if you can let us know the money clearance it would be nice. Give me an ETA 30 days down the line no issue. Just like to keep a track of my money.

Though I am surprised no-one else replied to my 3 questions - 'the way it works here'. Or do most people operate regarding deals in a haphazard manner...?

Thanks Phoenix...!

Its purely on the trust of the dealer atm.

Although hopefully, the dealers sort out the logistics before posting "awesome" deals. No finger pointing here, but a lot of the dealers end up over promising.

A buyer can mitigate this risk, by insisting the transaction takes place through Ebay or the likes, where you have fixed deadlines. Implementing the same here would not work, as monitoring would be a nightmare.

Last option for a member is to open a thread in feedback, if response from the dealer is un-satisfactory, or in many cases absent.

This is the reason I like Ebay. paisapay system ensures smooth transaction within well defined time limits. Further, Discount coupons from Ebay are icing on the cake:D
