Do we get dehydrated fruit here? My cousin got a few packets of these from Thailand I think. Has mango, peach, guava, papaya sliced. Drool. :p

You should get these in Mumbai in shops that sell imported items.
I saw them at Food Hall in Palladium, Mumbai. I remember there were mango, papaya, kiwi and a few others.

Very popular in SE Asia now. I make sure to buy a bundle there on every visit.
Local stores also keep stock of these now, not the same brands, sometimes local stuff which I think are better as the SE Asia ones are usually preserved using sugar syrup and so have a high sugar content.

Its like dried fruit and can be kept for long time in storage. No need to wait for season to eat them.

dehydrated fruit == dry fruit??? Ain't it??
Anyways... but whats the fun of eating a dried mango if there is no pulp or juice in it??
Please enlighten..... my noob doubt ;-)

When in doubt, wiki!

The normal dried fruits we find are raisins, of apricots and dates. The ones mentioned by the OP are ones we haven't seen normally in india, hence exotic.

I find dried fruits easy to carry around and non-messier to consume. Plus they have the same nutritional value as the actual fruit.
As mentioned before, have to make sure they don't have too much extra sugar infused.

Sweeter in taste, almost same nutritional values, longer shelf life, and can be carried around easily.

I agree that a juicy mango tastes better than a dried one, but in off season it is better to have a dried version of your favourite fruit than none at all.
