I'm thinking about buying the Dell ST2220L monitor. I am in Kolkata and I'm in two minds whether to buy it from Chandni shops or from Letsbuy.

Will the monitor survive the loving hands of the courier guys?

Should I pay by COD only, if do buy Letsbuy.com?

Could anyone give me the phone numbers for the good shops in Chandni area so I can call them before I go there personally?

Thanks

I bought a 20" Dell LD monitor from LSB. I checked it locally, the price was higher (by 750 bucks), so i opt for LSB. As my area is not serviceable under COD, i paid for the monitor.

I received the monitor in the best packing i ever had. The whole package was covered with 2 large piece of thermocol, the the whole thing was wrapped with bubble paper.

My speaker set was ordered via lsb and it was delivered via aramex. Very neatly packed and bubble wrap was extensively used.

But, I think a more important question would be .. How easy it is to obtain the warranty for products obtained via letsbuy.

Anybody has that info/experience...?

^ no idea about that. As for my Delll monitor, i guess the cash invoice and Dell CC will do the trick

Thanks for the replies #[member='CA50'] and #[member='Spacescreamer'].

Last year I bought Motorola Defy from LSB. I recall it was well packed, but their delivery was a bit iffy.

Let's hope for the best!

You think COD is the way to go or should I pay the whole amount upfront?

#[member='freefall72'], COD will be better, if LSB make delay, then you can get one locally

You can try dropping in an enquiry @ Dell's website. They'll get in touch with you and will route your order through their Whole Sale Dealer. The price will also be around 500-800 less than the Market Price. I save 800 bucks on the same monitor through this route.

I had bought my Vaio via LSB. But I was sent a 14 inch bag instead of 15"6. I contacted LSB and they told Sony ships the bag with them only (along with the package), so they can't do anything. When I contacted Sony, they said, Letsbuy.com is not their official distributor/retailer, I was like wtf

Finally, I had to give up trying my all best.

How does official retailer/distributor makes a difference..? A shop is selling a product and if you have a proper bill with TIN and everything, they should honour the warranty/scheme which they are rolling out as a bundle or freebies.

Unless LSB is providing bag on their own or that are involved in shady stuff SONY shouldnt use any alibi.

Either LSB or the company to which the product belongs should be pulled in consumer forums on account of deficiency of service if its a straightforward case.

#CA50, I Placed an order for ST2220L through DELL cc, they routed my order to their dealer in Chennai (M/s.Devraj Computers, located opp.ritchie st, in Mount Road). Their price quote was 850 less than the Market Rate. The rate was excluding shipment, since I picked up the product directly from the shop(in-person).

I know all that, but I tried at my very best to get it done, but Sony straight way denied.

The laptop Bag one ofc.

Was the15" laptop bag being provided by Sony's official vendors as well?

Dude, the laptop bag comes complimentary with every Sony laptop. In my case, the size was different, 14" instead of 15"6. I tried calling different CC, went to Sony service centre, mailed Sony support. Got an instant call (within 5 mins of sending mail), but he clearly said its a fault not from Sony side, LSB must have did something, and since they're not their authorised retailers/dealers, they can't do anything.

Sorry for the late reply everyone. I was really busy with something. FYI, I have ordered the monitor from LB. The price increased by 100/- in the meantime! All good things don't come to those who wait, it seems.

Anyway, now I go from Letsbuy to Letswait

Dell has the stupidest store policy I have ever seen. I went to the official Dell store where they quoted a price, which was on par with the market price. Then I told them I want to buy it and they were like there is an extra charge for shipping, read this, shipping to the Dell store. I was dumbstuck at their stupidity and walked out. Another shop a km away got me the monitor for the original price of 15k, the Dell U2311H, hence the trouble.
