Diamonds- Which one to buy and from where

My bro wants to gift a diamond ring to his wife on their wedding anniv.
But very few jewellers stock real diamond jewellery and almost every shop has lab grown diamonds. The reason is real diamonds doesn't sell that easily due to its high price.

Bro thought it was easy and convenient just like how we buy gold and silver but diamond is all but confusion.
And we decided to research today and found that lab grown diamonds are indeed real diamonds only just that they are grown in labs hence costs considerably lower than its counterpart. But again there's a catch that certain type of lab-growns are fake like CZ type.

We also found that online sites by popular jewellery brands house lots of designs, ratings etc. compared to local shop so bro might mostly consider online shopping. They even offer return policy and refunds if in case of no-satisfaction etc.

Seeking here experiences if someone has shopped for a diamond jewellery and what all factors did they considered-

• Did you buy online/offline.
• Real diamonds or Lab grown real or CZ ones. (there are many types of lab growns- fake ones and real ones)
• Pricing if any (silly query) as we know it is subject to the stone rating, gold and overall rate, yet asking to get an idea weight-wise/gram.

- I got diamond studded sapphire on a ring (18k gold) for ~$600 (INR 52k). Everything lab grown except the gold. Refer attachment for pics.

So, how does one know the authenticity/source of the diamond, some certificates.
Also how does one spot the true nature, like some special glasses.

How many carats is that sapphire? Did you get a certificate along with it?
