Difference between amex & all other Indian credit cards

but no offers/points, unless you are rich enough to stay at 5-star hotels worldwide, so pick your poison
All those points/offers would amount to nothing that one unlucky day you get into a situation like this:

thats why you research but to each their own, I know people who can extract 50k+/year from their credit cards simply by spending, and some really extreme cases where they can easily go 8-10L+/year simply on using points, giving all that for an Amex? not worth it imo, unless you get their platinum/platinum travel credit cards

Mostly such cases are manufactured spending based on loopholes which can get closed anytime.

Not possible to get 8-10 lakh per year as points worth unless spending at least 60 lakh per year but if someone is already spending 60 lakh per year then they most likely already have an amex platinum charge full metal card.

Not at all, you dont need to spend that much, I dont have the posts on hand right now but basically you are already spending a shit ton already but with points you just get better bang for the buck

That trend is slowing down as evident in almost universal devaluation of free lounge access & rent payment exclusions & will only increase further in coming time.

To earn 8-10 lakh per year on a credit card by spending 60 lakh is around 13% which is only possible on top end premium cards like infinia with 1:1 points conversion for flights/hotel bookings that too with 5x points feature on hdfc smartbuy txns. The max I have seen is around 550000 points with 1:1 conversion ratio on hotel booking on spends of around 30 lakh on a combination of amex cards & hdfc Marriott which comes out to be around 18%.

and I still made over 40k in cashback itself last year, and I'm not even including CC exclusive discounts otherwise the figure would be easily double this.

yeah, and that doesnt really detract from my point that Amex is shit in India except for customer care?

But how much you spent for that & was it all your own personal usage/used your own money. I know ppl getting 3-4k cb every month via sbi cb card using various tricks.

mostly personal use, I am living in Bangalore, so its almost 1.5 households worth of items being ordered every month, I use Tata Neu Infinity for my BigBasket/1mg spends (10% off in NeuCoins), Air travel/Amazon/other miscellaneous is mostly via SBI CB and it all adds up specially if you are exclusively using CCs to pay bills, SBI CB devaluation is coming soon, but until then use what you can
