Digital Camera Upto rs. 20K

Hii everybody
Im a PG student and like to do photography as my hobby. Im in process to buy a digital camera for me upto range of Rs. 20K (max) but im in dilemma which one to be taken. please help me in getting a good selection for me. I have heard about Canon SX30 is an excellent one to get, as is Nikon P-500/ L-120, a similar being Sony HX100v. a lower version of this is Fujifilm S-2950. Please let me know who do they differ? and which one would be better for general but excellent photography.

^ Am no photography expert, so won't be able to go into technical details if that's what you are looking for. As a beginner, I can say the quality of the snaps is outstanding, and the iA (intelligent auto) mode works excellently for most photos. The only times I have felt the need to adjust was when shooting in the dark (not low light - dark) when I had to tweak the settings. The superzoom is a delight :P The quality of video recording is pretty good too. You want details on technical performance - ask the pros here :)

I am not a photographer myself, but learnt a few stuffs from friends/forums.

If you "REALLY" serious about this photography stuff, go for a entry level DSLR.

Believe me, I own a Canon SX30 IS since Oct'2010, and I have tried to play with it.

All you can get is 'good' photos.......not some superb or WOWs !!!

All these megazoom PnS have "mega zoom" and lotsa Mega Pixels but fewer manual controls which becomes a major 'cons'.

better option will be, try for a hands on for both types, any megazoom PnS and any DSLR. Do li'l study/research on the basic/advanced camera features (dpreview.com I suggest) - compare 'em.

don't fall for 'mega's - megapixel or mega zoom - they aren't that much worth.

Experts pls comment..i havnt got my answer yet..pls comment on the quality and functionality of the above mentioned cameras ie canon sx30 /Nikon p500/Nikon L120/ Panasonic FZ40.
 
The HX100v seems to be the best Prosumer currently ,you can also check out the fuji HS20EXR ,

I also remember seeing whizz store Ad which had the NEX-3 for 22k which is quite a good deal and is better then every other camera for that price with respect to image quality.But like DSLR you have to buy lenses if you want a zoom range of a prosumer.
