Digital camera with in 6-10K

I am looking for a gud dig cam within 6-8K. If thr are any good models I can strech my budjet to 10 K. I dont know anything about cameras. I am gng to buy one for the first time. so please help me in this
 
go and buy newly launched Fuji AV100 with lots of freebies offered at Rs.4990. Very good camera in both still and video formats.

i just bought the canon a495 from ebay last week. its a cute and very good point and shoot digicam with positive reviews online. it cost me 5650rs using a discount coupon. now it has been listed for 6440rs on ebay.it came with a kingston 4gb memory card and a good quality camera carrying pouch.
the image quality is good and the best feature would be its night photography capabilities with very little noise if compared to other affordable point and shoot cameras.
do check its reviews online.

The only pros of Sony are sleek and trendy design which though tempting is not worth the extra bucks when you get a Camera that's below average compared to its competitors.
 
Bought A3000IS. All over fine camera for price but I did not find low light pictures up to the mark or I dont know in this budget most of the cameras work like this only.

I would suggest you to go for Canon A1100IS. This one is best in this price range.
 
Where are you located? In Mumbai, the canon a590is is available for ~6500, & the Panasonic LZ 8 for ~5500. [Must confess that this info is from print ads.] Both these offer excellent VFM IMHO & also offer manual controls so you can learn serious photography should you want to pursue photography further.

IMHO, the next camera in line will be the canons - a1100 &/or the a3100, the latter in case you want a li-ion battery. As regards, stretching your budget, I don't think you will gain much by increasing your budget till 10k. You'll have to go much beyond to see a noticeable difference. So I'd suggest you save the money.

Also, the a495 is a great camera, but it lacks image stabilization.

but the flash of sony digicams are extra powerful i guess... canon flash is not powerful like sonys....
 
for arnd 10.5 K canon ixus 105 IS is also a good option it is the upgrade to canon ixus 95 IS it has a wide angle lens do check it out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
