Graphic Cards Display problem and frequent freezes

The display just freezes frequently..
when I am waching a movie (I can watch complete movies most of the time)
when its loading windows (sometimes)
when its loading the bios (rarely but yes)
when playing the game.. (always)
and the screen either goes blank or displays some colorful patterns as if it were some shirt cloth.

Now what could be the prob and what do I do to ascertain the cause. Also I must mention that I got this mobo repaired some days back and its still in warranty since its less than an year old.

CPU: AMD Sempron(tm) Processor 2500+

Assuming your system is not overclocked at all -

It can be the PSU as darky pointed out in your rig gallery.

OR

It is your Integrated Mirage 2 GPU with local frame buffer.

If you can get hold of a PCI or AGP card then try using that & disable the onboard video from bios. Check if you still get the freezes.

Update your bios & install the latest sis chipset drivers.

Nothing helps get your mobo changed.
 
yup, me too thinks its due to the integrated gpu or RAM...

maybe they screwed something in the mobo when u gave it for repair.. if the prob persists, would be better if they take it back to the service center and show them..
 
Wokay guys I got hold of a gf2mx and then everything went smooth as silk. I could play games and all.
HOWEVER now...
The computer still freezes once in a while. at boot, at loading, while watching movies.. well any given time. Just that I dont get those wonderful colorful vertical lined screens anymore when I am on the gf2.

The memtest has been running for the past 35 minutes now and not a single error.
Now I seriously wish it was the memory, at least I could have tossed 1.5K and got it done with. I just hate to take it to the vendor and wait another 2 weeks. I hate asus.

Edit- Another thing.. could the freezes while on gf2mx be coz of overheating.. coz the fan isnt working and when i touched the card's pcb behind the gpu I could not keep my thumb for more than 10 seconds.
 
^ Possible. So it freezes & reboots or you have to restart your system. Or its not total freeze but only a stutter from time to time.

Other things to do -

1. Make sure DMA is enabled for your hard disk.

2. Defrag your drive.
