Hi,

I am building my first rig for my HTPC for parents. I need help in deciding UPS.
My configs:

1. CPU - intel Pentium G3220
2. Mobo - Asus H81M-V3 16GB DDR3 Intel Motherborad
3. RAM - 4GB
4.HDD - 1TB WD blue
5. 1 optical drive
6. keyboard n mouse.

I calculated my reqd watts using the calculator- it came around 240 watts. I hope I got it right !! So how much watts my PSU should offer? and I am having a SF Sonic inverter @ home providing 850 VA for the electric equipments. For sure, my parents will switch off the PC, if there is a power cut. Do I need a UPS even if I don't use the PC during power cut? And if Yes, how much my UPS should offer?

thanks,
Jammy.

APC 600VA UPS -2200.

This UPS is enough for you which will give a backup to both the Cabinet & Monitor for around 10 mins. Don't hook up any other components to the UPS.OK.

- inverters are not known for quick switch-overs, which means that your PC may switch off during power failure.
- don't buy the UPS right away. first checkout how your new system behaves with your inverter.
- you can go for a lower capacity UPS if you keep your monitor on inverter power.
- i am assuming your inverter provides pure sine wave. if not, then it's not that good for electronics.
