Just ask around, anyone in your friends/family who have bought a phone recently might have received a DAC in the box. You can try them with your phone.

It's not foolproof though. My wife got a DAC with her xiaomi phone which doesn't work with my pixel. But a proper iBasso DAC works.

Type-C to 3.5mm adapters can come with or without a built-in DAC. If the phone supports analogue audio over Type-C (OnePlus, Xiaomi etc.), then it can work with either kind of adapter else it will only work if the adapter has its own DAC (Samsungs, Pixels etc.)

Get one with a built-in DAC and it should work on pretty much every phone.

Did not know this. Probably why the Xiaomi one doesn't work with my phone.

I got a type-C converter with a built-in DAC from headphonezone, and it works with my phone and laptop :). Thanks for you replies!
