Dad:

Last pic was with an old Super Multi Coated Takumar 50mm/f1.4 from dad's old Spotmatic. Flawless condition, so I was lucky.

Total kit cost: 644$ from Amazon. I have 3 older lenses, a 35mm prime, 50mm prime and a 105mm Macro as well, so I'm set for a while.

Congrats :)
why a Pentax?

a) Best high ISO IQ as compared to it's peers, the T1i and the d5000

b) Compatibility with every Pentax lens ever made. They're available cheap - the old SMC Takumar primes from 50 years ago are awesome and easily available locally and on eBay.

c) Great burst rate - 4.7fps is good.

d) Cheap - got the camera + 18-55 + 55-300 zooms for 663$ shipped from Amazon.

e) I have some good old primes which I can and have started using with this camera.
