Hey guys, it's been pretty silent on the DVD front with all sorts of flash discs and hdds selling for awesome prices. But i'm one of those people who still use DVDs to archive large amounts of data. Last i used were verbatim DVD+Rs and they were pretty ok.

I wanted to know what are the best DVDs currently available to indian buyers. And are the single layer Verbatim +Rs available in MIS?

I don't think you'll be able to find MIS Verbatims here.

The MII Verbatims are pretty decent. Those are the best you can get here unless you import TY's from somewhere. :P

Cheers mate, any idea if there are fake verbatim +Rs anywhere or they're safe to buy from wherever?

Verbatim is a well known company and there is a very good chance of getting fakes if you buy it from any random source, better buy it from TE itself.

Wow, i can't believe i missed that, been through the dealer threads so many times...

Btw, what DLs do you use? the ultra cheap ones? Do they last?

You can get Verbatim dvd+r made in japan for rs 650 on TE itself, i use cheap dual layer dvds for storage as i dont have that important data to store, only lots of movies and games :P

When did you burn the first or the oldest DLs out of those?

Edit: they seem to be MBI made. I had a lot of original MBI DLs fail, have since only bought Verbatim MIS DLs from mediahome.

Well i have been using Sony DVDR's and i am pretty happy with the performance and quality of the same, i have burnt over 300 sony discs, not faced any issues.

I once bought a 50pk sony spindle, dont exactly remember whether they were dvd or cd. Opened the box and when i touched the disc, the label print just rubbed off on my finger! realised then that popular brands are faked more and never bought a sony since! lol

Wow even I missed that dealer thread for MIJ. Those should be good.

However, I doubt they would much different from the MII. Maybe they'll give marginally better burns.
