PC Peripherals Dvd-ram?

I was wondering, whats DVD-RAM? Just checked Nero info tool and saw that my burner supports this.. is it something like DVD RW?

I asked the guys at the chennai meet if it was available here... hasnt been found here i guess... Freaky told us that dvd-ram was used to store video recordings from digtal cams directly...
