Storage Solutions DVD Writer Write Speed -- Painfully Slow

Hi All,

i have a Liteon SOHW 1693S DVD writer . It used to take around 7-9 minutes to write one 4.7 GB of
data using NERO.

But i don know suddenly i don know why it is taking around 100-120 minutes to write the

same 4.7 GB of data.

Morever the PC also becomes very very slow when writing a DVD .

I have tried uninstalling and installing the NERO but it is not helping.

Please help.

Whats ur computer configuration? Plus, did u try changing the IDE cable?

It seems to be a DMA problem.

Click on this link , run the script and restart computer.

could be a nvidia IDE driver clash with windows MS IDE drivers

make sure you'r using an 80 wire IDE calbe and not 40 wire one..

check that your IDE connection is at the optimal UDMA5/6

seems like it is running on LBA mode

check by going to device manager>IDE ATAPI controllers>secondary (or primary if your DVD drive is on the primary channel) IDE channel

dbl click>advanced settings

check what your current transport mode is...

I had the same problem with my Liteon and setting the transport mode to UDMA 5 didn't help. After a bit of googling I flashed it to the latest firmware and that seemed to fix the problem. You should consider this if adjusting the transport mode doesn't help.

Hi ShakenSoul ,

this script solved my problem thanks a lot.
The DMA tranfer was somehow disabled !!

can anyone tel me how happens ??

Anytime mate..:hap2:

When you install some program , it might disable the DMA.

Read the entire article. Its very informative.
