eBay announced its net income for the second quarter dropped 29%.
Total ending as on June 30 was 327 million dollars, or 25 cents per share of stock, as compared to 460 million dollars, or 35 cents per share, in the same period last year.
eBay attributed the drop to "the stronger dollar and the impact of challenging macroeconomic conditions."
Approximately 57 percent of Marketplaces revenue comes from markets outside the United States, according to eBay.
eBay is working to revitalize the website and online auctions.

Well, u may get more coupons, as they may try to increase online sales by attracting more customers

Learn to read guys. They didnt report a loss. Their profits just dropped a little.
less profit means loss.
you lost something that u expected.
like my bro leaving unused 250/- off coupon.:P

losses are two types, direct loss and indirect loss.

ex:if you don't get salary:direct loss.

if you don't go for work:indirect loss.

you lost something which you probably have got.

This is the best thing I have heard all day. What a logic! ! !

In plain English, it seems as if you are taking too much for granted.

Profit depends on a lot of things: strategy, innovation etc.
The margin of profit may vary depending on the market condition.
Nokia got less profits compared to what it collected last year. It does not mean that it is a loss making entity like Sony Ericsson or Motorola. It is still a very profitable company.

I hope you never start or manage a company or a family business. You will get depressed very fast as profits may vary every year.

This thread is wrongly titled. Really it doesn't mean that they are losing something. Just that their profits would be a bit lesser. And that certainly doesn't mean losses.

why do you feel silly,i can't understand:(

it's same like opportunity cost.

we include that cost when doing business.

then why don't we consider it in this way.:O
