Samsung's cheapest Android smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Pocket might soon be getting a revision, probably with updated hardware and a new OS, Android 4.0 ICS to boot! This just makes the GT-5301 (internal code name, we like Sony's far far better, although weirder) an exciting new option in the budget smartphone list, especially in developing countries where contracts really don't exist.

Samsung Galaxy Pocket Plus GT-5301

The new Samsung Galaxy Pocket Plus will not be an entirely new phone, but simply a minor update to the existing Galaxy Pocket GT-5300.

Specifications include the following:
  • 2.8" QVGA (320x240) display
  • 832 MHz single core CPU
  • 256 MB of RAM
  • 2 MP camera, QVGA @ 15 fps
  • 1200 mAh battery
  • Android 4.0.4 ICS

For a price of Rs. 6,500, this phone makes good sense. Otherwise buyers can simply look at the exciting options Indian manufacturers are offering these days.

This updated phone also might be good news for Galaxy Pocket owners, which might eventually get the ICS update. This means the Galaxy Y might also get it. But then again, all this can just be false.
