My pc config is as follows :
-ASUS A7N8X Deluxe mobo
-nVIDIA n2Force Chipset
-Athlon XP 2400+, 2GHz
-256X2 DDR RAM, 400MHz
-Seagate Barracuda 40GB 7200, IDE
-Creative Audigy2
-Philips 107ES CRT
-Powersafe 400W SMPS
I recently upgraded from my existing GeCube ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB AGP Graphic card to an eVGA nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT 128MB AGP Graphic card bought from eBay, USA.
I uninstalled the drivers for the old card & loaded the Forceware drivers (Version 81.98) for the new card after rebooting, by first canceling Windows Found New Hardware steps, disabling Norton AntiVirus 2005 and loading the latest drivers for the card myself. After running dxdiag & finding no problems, I assumed that it had been a smooth upgrade. However, the pc is getting frequent lock ups in the middle of games like LOTR2, FAR CRY at 1024X768 screen resolution, Colour set at Highest, 32bit & high (not extreme or ultra high) game settings.
The latest mobo chipset driver (nForce Unified Driver for WinXP Version 5.10) has been loaded. Will I have to load the latest Firceware drivers for the card (Version 84.21, which has support for higher end cards like the 7900GT) to get rid of this problem ?
