Can any one tell me whats the excise duty that is applicable on computer components brought from America.

Two of my office colleagues are going to Denver, Colorado on an official trip. They have agreed to get me any computer components i may want. I am looking for a good sound card and cooling kit for my rig. I want to go for an Audigy 2 ZS (Value Edition). In India its priced in the 6000 range. In US its available for $75. If i get it from outside what is the applicable excise duty and other charges. Give me the total expenditure i have to take to get it here. Also I am looking for some good cooling solution for my rig. I am perticularly interested in a liquid based cooling solution for any Athlon 64 and GeForce 6800 GT. Can any one suggest me a good cooling kit available in America. It should not be way too costly. can you also suggest any other things that i can get for my rig from denver. my total budget is 10 to 12k Rupees.

For 10-12K, I don't think you can get a decent water cooling system. Forget an Audigy 2 ZS also in that same budget.

And for each Indian returning from a trip abroad, the limit is 25,000 Rs worth of dutiable goods. So, theoretically, you can get 50K of computer good from the US through your colleagues.

And forget the Value Edition of Audigy 2 ZS. Go for the full fledged version. It must be around 80-100$.

And as for the cooling, get a Thermlaright XP-90. With a 92 mm fan.

Well you can actiually get a deascent high peformance watercooler in 10-12K range.
Go to www.dangerden.com
Customize your kit.
Dont buy fans and stuff.
just Waterblock, Heater core II radiator, Eheim 1250 Pump. 1/2" tubing( you can buy tubing here too), A Hard disk bay reservoir, a chipset block, and some hose clamps.
All this can be obtained in about $210.

If u are not into heavy duty OCing, then check out the CoolerMaster Aquagate water cooling kit which fits into ur Five-n-quarter drive-bay too. It sells at $165 at newegg and about $80 for the sound card (both prices inclusive of shipping).. comes to $245, which is about 11k INR.

coolermaster have a dirt cheap watercooler - aquagate mini r80 or the r120.. a lot cheaper than the aquagate . performs quite ok and is all prefitted. good for newbies ;)

I think that retails at $90~100.. i thot the Aquagate wud be a better at $50 more.. just my thots.. havent checked a comparision-review of the two :)

not sure of US prices but its selling for $129 in singapore. works out to about $75 us whereas the aquagate sells for almost double that :)

Thanks for the very quick replies

I am more interested in cooling for my 6800 GT Graphics card. Actually its running at 65 to 75 deg even with out overclocking. During winter i was able to run this card at 400/1040 at 60 to 65 deg with out any problems. But in summer the temp is going too high. Any suggestions. As for the processor Its running at 42 to 45 deg without any overclocking. Any suggestions?

There are two options for you.
Go complete watercooling or use watercooler for GPU only.
6800GPU block that also covers RAM is not cheap. just block costs@124
Or the other option is to get Maze4Gpu with 6800 fittings.
Maze4 is cheap but dosent cover the RAM.
You have the aircooling option in the form of NV5 and Zalman cooler.
Its up to you and your budget.

Can any one suggest some good reliable online store for comp components in US. normally how many days do they take to deliver in US say in Denver. my colleague stays there for 2 weeks , she asked me to order any thing i want through credit card and get it sent to her address there. So keeping in view that she stays only for two weeks, plz suggest the stores.

The problem is that most US Sites do not accept Indian credit cards. I wanted to get some stuff delivered from newegg. But they do not accept credit cards issued in India.

But amazon.com is one of the sites that do accept international credit cards but you have a .00000001% chance of getting a WC kit from amazon.

Try other sites like frozencpu, coolpc, sidewindercomputers, etc...... You better find out abt the credit cards before spending time deciding what to order...

You cant order like that.
These stores only accept local credit cards.
And those who accept International credit cards only ship to address of the credit card holder or to the secondary address of the card holder.
not to any other place to avoid frauds.
