I understand we have a thread for job opportunities in the General Talk section for members to post job description's available for employee referrals in their respective companies, but is it fine if the recruiting team of a company wants to directly post a job opening. Would it be treated as advertising? Can we have a dedicated sticky thread for such posts?

Actually, my companies recruiting team is having a hard time finding suitable candidates for our C++ openings via the Job portals. As I am one of the interview panel members, they have asked for feedback from me and also for suggestions of where we might get the right candidates. I have suggested that TE might also be a good place to look considering its filled with Tech Enthusiasts who also happen to be IT Professionals. :)

I don't see any problems with this , won't the career opportunities thread suffice rather than having an additional thread?

I'll check with the admins and see if they can incorporate a section or something as well in the next overhaul they have planned soon

I am not involved in recruiting and have nothing to do directly with the recruiting team. I am a developer and I happen to do the technical interviews for the C++ candidates. Since the recruiting team has asked for feedback, I obliged by pointing to TE as a possible source. I posted this thread in the general sense that there might be others interested as this is mutually beneficial to both the members of the forum and the companies.

Most members are "working" in IT companies during their uptime in online forums. So yea online forums is a great window for that. :D

Thanks for the clarification. The career opportunities thread that we have currently is long and not even a sticky at the moment. That is the main issue. Its easy for posts to go unnoticed unless you are going through it on a daily basis. I would say a section or even a sub section would be a great idea when ever it can be done. A company can have a dedicated thread where they can post their opportunities. That would ensure that the opportunities stand a chance of getting attention from members that might be interested and in time, but without turning TE into an all out Job Portal.

I think it boils down to what you want from TE actually.
(Like maybe you want your "ad" to be highlighted, or be treated in some special way then I think we need something more than just the "posting of a new thread" mechanism).

It also depends on the number of Threads for recruitment being posted and the feedback on that.
If the number of threads on recruitment becomes really big then maybe some new sub-forum like "Software Zone" -> "Jobs Postings" would really help.
(like think of the section "Product Promotions and Releases"- no threads, not a single one, but its there) :)

For now I think its quite good and helpful to post is as a new thread on the General talk section, maybe under "Events and Meets".

Yes I'm discussing on having a dedicated subsection for the same, so members can start threads about opportunities for better visibility. I'm not sure if a single company thread would be allowed since say having a 'Cognizant thread' may be considered as advertising. Rather threads like Wanted 2+ C Programmer with details inside could be ok. Opinions on this welcome.

The Careers and Employement thread was a sticky but was made an indirect sticky by being mentioned in the Sticky thread. I have made it a dedicated sticky now. Until we have a proper section, Please use this so that members have a centralised repository to go through rather than threads getting lost since GT has a high volume of threads from various interests.

Just add another section in member's market? I'm in favor of access only to members with sufficient credentials, else it'll turn into a HR personnel magnet.

This is something thats additional to what is core to TE so we'll try to make it beneficial but non intrusive. Hopefully it will turn out like our Auto Zone which seems to have integrated pretty well into TE so far.
