I have ordered the Gigabyte P965-DS3 board for 9.5k, which i think was a good decision. I have finalized on the e6300 cpu, and 512x2 DDR2 667 but its price rise is just unstoppable! 4k for 1 512M stick! Sheesh..

Ive finalized on a Chieftec case and 450W PSU...the PSU is made by Delta and is very highly rated at AT and Jonnyguru.

Anyway, i need help on choosing the graphics and monitor.

1 - Im coming from a dead Radeon 9800pro, and would like something around 4k that atleast equals the 9800Pro...considering im going to be on a higher resolution with an LCD. I was considering the x700se or 7300GS from the market but all the 7300s have sold out and the x700se would be too slow, what with the 4 pipes and 128bit bus. Does anyone know the current rates for 7300GT? I was quoted 4.8k for a zebronics 7300GT..Also on my mind is the fact that i can get a cheap card for now, and hopefully get a better card from the US if anyone is coming down in December, but thats not certain yet. So confused........:ashamed:

An x700SE seems to outperform the 7300GS in most games, except 3dm06 and Doom3...thats got me confused as well!

Will all of these cards support widescreen resolutions?

2 - My monitor choice has me confused, 19inch WS is more VFM, but has less pixels per inch. Which would be better choice, a 17incher or a 19inch WS? My usage is going to be 35% Movies & TV, 25% Gaming, and 40% general use (internet, burning dvds etc.). Im leaning towards the 940BW, but is the VA1912W better? Anyone here own one and doesnt mind me coming over to have a look? ;) The Sony SDM-E76D is for 13.4k, just 1k less than the 940BW!

All inputs welcomed!

^A) Check out AT's review of the latest DS3 BIOS (F7, IIRC.. ) be sure to flash it :)

B) LMK if you want a Sapphire X800GTO2 for 8.5K.. 16 pipes unlocked and overclocks to 540/590.

Which Coolermaster PSU, btw? cost?

check out some other psu's also.

& i guess you should go for a 19" widescreen.

rest of the stuff seems fine. gfx card is upto you depending on the usage.

as mentioned go for the 19 ws lcds,

bros anybody who has a 1912w or 940bw in mumbai plz vouch to demonstrate so he could come overand take a look at the lcd and get zonked :P

Hi there,

I have VA1912W and can assure you that it is really value for money. Since I am in Bangalore, can't really invite you to see it. :D

Can list down my personal take on it so far:

* Text - Superb with DVI.

* Movies - No ghosting, no double images. Its almost as normal as my CRT display. Viewing angle is a bit less, I would imagine. But, not yet felt the need of more angles that it is currently having.

* Games - Just rocks! (tried HL2, FarCry)

* Mild PhotoShop editing - Very comfortable. Since I am not a pro, suits me.

The only artifact that I sometimes see is due to dithering (I guess ). 6-bit and 8-bit difference. This can be seen when there is a smooth gradation of color in an image. The frequency of me coming across such images has been so far less. Well then, you have to expect it in all 6-bit TN panels. Afterall, what you pay is what you get! I have'nt seen 940BW. So, can't compare.

But, I am very much pleased by it so far. I do wonder sometimes, how better other high end LCDs would perform! :) (envy!)

What RAM should i get? Corsair Value, Kingston Value or Transcend? (ddr2 667..)

Differences in price are marginal, all come with "lifetime warranty" though each companies definition of "lifetime" may differ...

940BW sucks :P the newer 1912 with 5ms response time and 700:1 contrast reatio is soo much better.
funny thing is the viewsonic is cheaper than the 940bw

Get transcend or corsair value both OC to 800 easily.

Get any of those sticks, whichever is the cheapest :P

As for the GFX, the Zebronics 73--GT should do just fine, bargain down to 4.5k :P
