Hi guys, the Undertaker is back in action.Unfortunately I haven't kept true to the geek tradition and bought this HP pc:

A64 3500+(venice)

1Gig PC3200(chips are samsung so the ram may oc well later once the mobo changes)

DVD-RW with Lightscribe

DVD-ROM

250GB S-ATA 7200 RPM(I think its WD Caviar)

HP 17" FLAT CRT

MSI ATI RS480M2 MOBO(I know I'll have to change it to oc but a 3500+ won't need oc'ing for some time I think)

8 in 1 card reader

Standard HP KB and mouse and 2.0 speakers

It cost me around $850 all incl(after mail-in rebates)

What do u guys think?

Of course an X800/6600/6800 is due some weeks down the line:clap:

Not to mention that the software loaded is crap and I'll have to configure that first.

And did I mention I am getting 2-3Mbps constant?

Hm... pretty expensive I must say... especially since it doesnt come with a graphics card. Dell has a 3G P4 and a 17" TFT for something like 299$. OT but are you in purdue?

OMG, why the hell ???? A HP !!!!! Was a HP Tech. Support Engg. for a year. The products r disastrous. Also if u change the OS, u will not get support from HP. Check all warranty req. first b4 changing anything. Those guys r just ridiculous. Why HP ???????

Thats a great config Undertaker !

And how come you of all people decided to buy an ATI mobo :P

Nevertheless, see if you can pick up a 7800GT to complement it :D

I configured exactly the same config on newegg and it came to $805 all incl.So it was a no brainer basically as I don't have much time at hand.

I have a friend who works in dell... He can get you *cheap* TFT... All he needs is somebody to bring one for him too... He in sales so he can even go in negative...

why dude whats the problemo with the mobo and 4 hwmuch is it available in india

The ATi X200 based MOBO - the MSI RS480-IL costs 5500. Not a OC'er at all and it seems from the feedbacks from the ppl. who got it that gaming performance ain't that gr8.

Nothing mate ! Undertaker is a true ATI hater so it was quite surprising when he bought an ATI mobo. Though he's changed his views quite a bit now ;)

Yeah. He was/is ( not sure pal ) a nVidiot like me. And he is also on the lookout for a x800 as his siggy states though he might become an nVidiot again by purchasing a 7800.

^^ Well I just suggested a 7800GT though I don't think he's gonna buy one ;)

He will probably go for a mid-range 7 series card (supposedly 7600) as he had stated it before...

I am hoping to do a bios experiment to enable oc sometime later as the refrence Ati board was a good oc'er.About the ATi thing well I'm sure this PC would have had an nforce4 heart had Nvidia had a chipset with integrated video out.Anyway will keep this mobo for say may be 6 months and then buy an nf4.

The PC has its quirks, the keyboard is excellent but the mouse while good is a ball-based design!

Just used clockgen to reach 220 fsb(the max clockgen will allow),anyone know how to apply clockgen settings at startup i.e ghost mode?I can't seem to follow it exactly...

Umm, can't help you with clockgen, never used it before ;)

The PC should be good at stock though, its a 3500+ afterall, so its gotta be 2.2G's...

If you had a NF4, I think you could definately have taken it upto 3G's and higher. Why don't you start a new thread in the OC'ing section. All the best...

BTW, update your sig now :P !

on core performance, with onboard graphics is it good enough, as myself looking for a board for good onboard graphics, i was pretty happy with intels 915g graphics though,ARE this better or any issue with mobo.

And will the onboard graphics be shut down, when i opt for a graphics card in future. please tell as i am really looking out for buying this board, as is value for money too at 5.5k.
