Forum Feedback flash ads in TE makes eveything sluggish

well the flash based ads in TE is realy annoying since ,replying to post ,typing is sluggish,so u don't even fill like posting because of this.this also happens in some other forums that displays these kind of ads.

Hmm.. that's strange!

I have the default setup of ABP installed on another PC and this sample flash page opens just fine:

Four, uncompromised. The new Panamera.

On the other hand, opening the same weblink on my primary PC with flashblock+ABP makes the flash go away.
 
lol Adblock Plus doesnt block all flash , only flash ads , as defined in its filterset , you dont need flashblock
 
Update flash/JRE.

What are your system specs? Even I run on a measly single core setup and TE is one of the few sites where I haven't come across these slowdowns at all.

well it is old a p4 2.6ghz HT,768mb ram,6600gt.
i know its old but a flash ad bring it to it knees is kind a weird.

u are using IE8 on such an old single core .. thats why the machine is slowing down.

IE8 uses a lot of ram for each webpage similar to google chrome... use a browser that uses a combined working set in ram for displaying all tabs.. like firefox or opera.

well actualy its faster in IE8 then IE7 and the total usuage is only about 350mb.
even in opera the same thing when ever there is a flash based ad it hangs.all this started only about a week ago.

Not at all, I have come across a rare few badly made Flash ads that do bring the system to a crawl. Blame the designers! Usual advice is to update Flash and the JRE in case it is a glitch.

Was just curious because I've always found the flash ads on TE very light ;)
 
i use RIP (Remove It Permanently) Ad-on wid firefox.

it allows me to select the Ad/content n remove it from 4 options:-

1)this page only

2)all similar pages

3)domain

4)website

it also has option to remove all similar objects.

n default option to block google Ad-sense

Ads aren't that irritating according to me.. TE lives on Advertisement (If I'm right).. Let it be there or we'll have to pay monthly subscriptions for being TE member :bleh:

These ads never annoy me at all ;) use blockers if u want..

well the things is i don't mind ads at all,as long as it doesn't hinder performance.i don't know why but only from the past few days am i getting this problem,especialy when the displayed AD is RAMBUS tech.the same AD also causes the same problem in US forums like avsforums.
