Folder settings aren't being remembered

I recently deleted the $uninstal$ folders in my windows directory to free up some space. WHen i restarted, all my icons are being displayed in the default 'tiles' veiw. I switch it back to 'detailed', check the folder options to make sure that folder settings are remembered. But the moment i restart the comp, or if i end and restart 'explorer.exe', it returns to 'tile' veiw.

ANy solutions?

If XP does not remember your folder settings, delete or rename the following registry keys

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\Bags]
