Full HD source

Was waiting for a good deal on a camcorder. Got this for 540$ at Amazon, delivered to a masi in the US, and thence here.

Full HD, records to miniDV. Great IQ.

The successor model, the HV40 has just been announced, no great improvements..

Nice camera but use of cassette seems clumsy nowadays

^Easy workflow, easy backup, not as susceptible to falls as HDD camcorders. Flash cameras were not in my budget..

Though i've always wondered.. do people have the patience to sit and watch recordings, years later.. like one would do with pics.. also, the cameraman kinda gets excluded from all the moments being recorded, unlike photographs again.
