Full Http dnld Speed but Really low torrent speed.

Hi guys,

I just got a new net connection -> 24Online/Honesty Net solutions.
256kbps speed.
On direct download links/http my download speed averages from 32kBps - 40 kBps.

But with torrents the speed gets miserably low n averages from 5kBps - 15 kBps.

I googled and tried all the methods,ways of increasing speed n finally after setting the upload speed around 5kBps , now the dnld speed averages 15 - 25 kBps[ most of the times below 20].
no matter what i try it does not go above 25.
Please Help. IF i can atleast get it to 30kBps avg. it would be really helpful.
ALso can someone suggest some private tracker sites for dnlding Songs and softwares.
I have never downloaded from a private site before..
but i have downloaded more than 50gb and have a ratio of 1+.

Please elaborate on "all the methods". What client are you using? Have you made it an exception in your firewall? Assuming your client's utorrent, do you see the white check mark in a green circle at the bottom? Or is it the exclamation point?
 
Yea re.. there i a green check mark..

I hv been using utorrent for 2 yrs now...

bt eralier my connection was sify it gave 30 kbps avg on both torrents n http so never had any problems..

Methods so far ..

OS- win 7 x64

1 - Force protocol encrytion

2- allow incoming leagcy conn.

3- upload speed = total upload speed x .8

4 no of connections per torrent

5 half open connections = 50.

even when the seeds + peers = 40,000+ still the 20kbps speed..

Added exception inm my comodo firewall... n

Now u guys only help me..
 
Check your Internet Connection Settings on your Torrent Client. Make sure that speed matches or More than your ISP connection speed.

When you download from Torrent, make sure that it has enough amount of seeders. If your torrent has less amount of seeders then you'll most probably get very bad download speeds.. And Always seed after you complete download, help P2P to grow (for legal materials :D)
 
Hey man, don't worry. This is not a problem in utorrent or any other client you may be using. This is a problem from you ISP's side.

I have been a subscriber of 24Online/Cyberoam/Honesty Net Solutions for more than 4 years. The thing to remember is, that they do not provide DSL/ADSL services. They just provide one single cable/wired connection. What I mean is, that your uploads and downloads will be counted as a part of your aforementioned 256kbps line.

The only way to increase your download speeds are to limit your upload speeds. Also 24Online will give you maximum 30kBps speed wither way.

I got so fed up of this connection that I switched over to MTNL which gives me 256 up and 256 down.

I feel sorry for you that you chose 24Online. I suggest you move onto some other ISP if you want peace of mind and better down/up speeds.
 
It is also dependent on number of seeds and peers you are connected to. I sometimes put a new torrent with 170+ seeders and 80-90 leechers but it refuses to even start for 15-20 min and even when it starts it is very very slow. The green tick is there, setting are all correct. After say about half hr or so it picks up and speeds go to 200+ kBps as it gets connected to more seeds and peers.
 
I said that i tried torrents with many seeds.

About 20000 seeds and 20000 peers.. still the sad speed..

@Phoenix i still get 32+ speeds from direct links, then why the problem in torrents???
 
i've used 24 online honesty for 2 years---it is rubbish,expensive and is almost always not working.its time to swithc over to a better isp!!!

The number of seeds and peers clearly state that you are using a pubic tracker where usually people experience low speeds vis-a-vis private trackers.
 
YEa i know its 32kbps re...

But im, not getting more than 20..bt only in torrent...

otherwise direct HTTP downloads im getting 32+..

And even with public torrents,, with sify i used to get 30+..

are you guys understanding my problem???
