Damn, It hasnt launched in India yet ??

tried out the tab in S'pore, found it to be on heavier side. The size is between the Xperia phone and the iPad. Rather unusual size for a tab, can't put in pocket nor hold in hand properly. Its kind of small notebook in size but much heavier !!!

Arm! Its lighter than iPad 2. How can it feel heavier?

Anyway, 10 inch tablets are never meant to be carried in the pocket.

I never said, its heavier than iPad. But, for its size, it is heavier. Didnt get the size concept, rather make it big enough to hold in both hands or make it lighter enough to hold in one hand :P

although, touch wise, it was nice to operate it. It had a Live wallpaper on it. iPad 2 doesnt support the live wallpaper natively.

^^I think you might be talking about the 7" Galaxy Tab! I don't understand how a 10.1" display Tablet can be smaller than 9.7" one on an iPad!

Galaxy Tab 750 aka 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 730 aka 8.9 launched today in India for Rs 36200 and 33990 for 16Gb WiFi+3g Model.

At last!!I almost gave up!!

how much is the 16GB wifi only version for???

AFAIK there is no wifi only version atm, atleast for the 10 incher.

I feel that these might be highly over priced.

Sweet spot would be in region of 20k

what with quite a few tabs at 13k like the Reliance one.

I really don't understand why anyone would buy this instead of iPad 2, especially considering the price!

Ipad2 16gb with 3G is for Rs.36900 and tab 10.1 is for Rs 36200 and 8.9 is for 33990 with 3G.Its still cheaper than ipad2.

^^Apart from saving a couple of hundred bucks (~1%), what else would a buyer get by buying this? I would have bought this if it was available for say ~25-27k. However, even at that price-point, there is no denying that iPad is the more superior tablet.

Customer will get larger screen , higher resolution screen,Honeycomb which can play flash videos(720p) which gives full web experience like pc,has more flexibility, customization out of box, can play more video formats(yes i know ipad2 can play via JB but i am talking abt out of box functionality)Its depends upon one tastes if one likes ios he will take ipad and if one has preference for android he will take galaxy tab 10.1. There is nothing like ipad2 is better or galaxy tab 10.1 is better ,both are great tablets , it depends upon individuals preference what he wants. I for one will buy galaxy tab 10.1 even if its 2-3k expensive than ipad2.

Larger screen? OK, like 0.4" larger

Higher resolution? Agreed

Honeycomb? You must be kidding! There is no way in this world that OS can compare to iOS on iPad (Note I am not talking about phones, but tablets).

Please find the number of Honeycomb-optimized apps that are available and compare it with that available on iPad.

Tell me what is the point of buying a 10.1" screen tablet which has almost no app support in the Market? Doesn't make sense to me especially when buying such an expensive gadget! It might improve after a year or so, maybe, but by then you will have quad-core tablets and this one will be obsolete!

Oh and btw, iPad can play most (if not all) video formats without Jailbreaking: OPlayer HD :)

^Agreed on all of the above points. The OOTB experience for iOS devices are certainly above Android devices by a very high margin - I know since I have the iPad 2 and my roomie who got himself a Spice MI 410 (I know the former is a tablet and this is a phone!) a week back has been tinkering with it since then. All he does when he comes back home is to switch on the comp, connect the phone to the system, tinker with it. I think he even had to install some Ubuntu to have the phone rooted to Gingerbread but failed! So much for the OOTB functionality but as much as iTunes is being thwarted, Android takes the cake for wasting the time on tinkering.

I think he might be reading this thread now for all I care but nvm that's a honest feedback from my side. I've been in love with my tablet ever since I laid my hands on it. :P

i have ipad2 and transformer but i like my transformer better and it has all applications which i care about. And yes if one likes having more applications then its no brainer and as i said before it depends on users preferences for which he is taking a tablet for.Since i have bought transformer i have hardly used ipad2.It doesnt mean if i like android other person shld also like it or vice versa and as already said both are great tablets and u cant say ipad2 is superior than tab 10.1 or tab 10.1 is superior than ipad2.

Plzz dont make it android vs ios thread(including me):)

Regarding format support of ipad2-oplayer hd does play almost everything but it is not free, secondly it drains the battery real fast(no hardware acceleration)

Regarding apps,90%of the android market and appstore apps are useless.

The thing I love most about ipad is the absence of flash(99%of them are ads and they eat battery like anything)

Actually there is lot more to flash than adds. There are few great portals which are useless without flash.

And having an option is always better than not having an option.

You can always turn off flash on Android tablets.
