    Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, HDD
  • Q: Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.

Been out of most recent developments in PC World, depending on you guys to suggest the components, I require only the rig. Will buy and upgrade the rest later on.

SSD instead of an HDD will be better as I already have an HDD which I can use as a secondary drive and the prices of HDD these days are way above normal.
  • Q: Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component

No, the rig must be complete and perfect, I'm not looking to upgrade for a year and half at the least.
  • Q: Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)

    • Not any as such.
  • Q: If you will be playing games then which type of games will you be playing?

    • Linux - Ubuntu

Intel Core i5 2500 ~12500/- + Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ~2400/-

Intel DH67-BL ~5800/-

G.Skill RIPJAWS 4GB x2 1600MHz ~3400/-

AMD HD 7850 ~16500/- [upon its release in India ~mid March -- http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7870-review-benchmark,3148.html / http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/pc-components/graphics-cards/amd-radeon-hd-7850-1068373/review / http://www.anandtech.com/show/5625/amd-radeon-hd-7870-ghz-edition-radeon-hd-7850-review-rounding-out-southern-islands]

Seasonic S12II 520W ~3700/-

Corsair Carbide 400R ~5700/-

APC BR1.1KVAC-IN ~4600/-

Corsair Force 3 80GB SSD ~7500/- [120GB should be ~12500/-]

[don't buy any hard drive as of now as prices are very high, even SSDs' recommend you add a hard drive after April when prices will dip a little]

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

Thanks for the suggestion ALPHA17, I already own an UPS though. Might I upgrade to a 2500k just in case I need to overclock in the future?

Then get the ASUS P8Z68M-PRO ~9500/- a H67 based motherboard as I previously suggested cannot over-clock a -k marked processor.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

I went to S.P. road today and got the following prices excluding taxes.

CPU : i5-2500k - 11,700/- | i7-2600k - 16,850/-

MOBO : ASUS P8Z68M-PRO - 9350/-

RAM : G-Skill Ripjaws 4GBx2 1600Mhz - 3150/-

SSD : Corsair Force 3 - 80GB - 7,600/- | 120GB - 8,500/- (Confused cause you suggested it to be 12.5k, can this be an old batch? Perhaps using old controllers or compression technology?)

CABIN : Corsair Carbide 400R - 4,100/-

PSU : Corsair VX550W - 3,800/-

With i5 it comes to around 42k+taxes, with i7 it comes to around 47k+taxes. Considering my budget of 60k+5k, I'm still left with around 15k-20k for the GPU. I need to buy the system as soon as possible(have a presentation to make and my old HDD has crashed), but I don't need the GPU right away, can wait for it. What do you guys suggest?

Thanks for the price update, seems there has been a sea change in pricing in 3 months, by the way which shop quoted you these prices?

Go for the 120GB SSD, as you get ~25% more capacity in a ~8% hike in pricing. Great value and more the space you have on SSD, the more applications you can put on it apart from Windows.

You can buy the graphics card at the end of April OR May once AMD HD 78** series and nVidia Kepler are out in India. Also keeping this in mind and future over-clocking please invest in slightly beefier SMPS --

Corsair TX V2 650W ~5400/- OR

Cooler Master Silent Pro M600 ~6000/-

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

The prices were quoted by Mahaveer Electronics on S.P. road. It was in the building that's being built now just as you enter the road, they're now in a shop opposite to that temporarily.

I forgot to add in the CPU cooler, the stock cooler is not that great is what I've heard. Adding that it will come to around 50k+taxes. I can't wait that long for the GPU though, 2 months is a very long time, max I can is until march end. Should I stick for buying a 7850 then when it is released?

P.S. - I'll keep updating.

I finally bought my rig, it is still incomplete though, the GPU is yet to be bought, waiting for 7850. I got the i7 because of the extra cache memory and HT which may come in use for CAD and rendering. The mobo you suggested isn't available in any shop, though they did quote how much it will cost. So I went with the next best solution after going through a quick review on my mobile.

Here is the final build:
  • MOBO - ASUS P8Z68-V PRO GEN3 - 14,500/-
  • CPU - Intel Core i7 2600k - 16,850/-
  • RAM - GSkill 1600MHz 4GBx2 - 3,150/-
  • SSD - Corsair Force 3 120GB - 8,500/-
  • DVD - ASUS DVD Writer 24x - 1,250/-
  • CABIN - Corsair Carbide 400R - 4,100/-
  • PSU - Corsair TX V2 650W - 5,000/-
  • MISC - CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO - 2,269/-

Total = 55,619/-

Taxes @ 5% = 2,681/-

As you can see I went a little over with my budget, the build sans the GPU itself came out to be around 58.5k, but I am very much satisfied with this build. Have to make do with the internal graphics until then.

Thanks again ALPHA17 for your help
