Hi guys
i am planning to buy a laptop <50k. (max 55k)
The main purpose would be gaming.

I read through the forums and came across 2 names
1. Sony vaio B16
2. Acer Aspire 5740g

I checked out both and it seems the aspire is better(for me) and cheaper. But seems it is out of production now and the ones available are i3/HD 4570.
Is the sony the best option or is there any else out there. Moreover I couldnt find any reviews for the sony one.

( currently owning a Dell XPS M1530, C2D 2.0, 2G, 8600MGT )

59000 was the quote SMC gave me for the GX 640 several weeks back when the lappy was about $50-100 more expensive than it is right now.

Also, from ebay.com, it comes for about 60k shipped + customs in case you end up paying them

Acer Aspire 5740G is available in Bangalore atleast. I bought it for 44,600 bucks 3 days back from Magrath Road. And yes its the i5 version ... config as follows:

# 2.26-GHz Intel Core i5-430M CPU

# 15.6-inch (1366 x 768) display

# 4GB of RAM

# Windows 7 ($74.49) Home Premium (64-bit)

# ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 GPU (with 1GB of video memory)

# 500GB HDD

# 8X Super Drive

# Memory card reader

# 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi

# Webcam

# Multi-gesture touchpad

# Four USB ports and HDMI

# 15.1 x 9.9 x 1.0-inch body

The shop I bought it from is ComputerWarehouse , they have online presence too .

Also after buying it you have 90 dys to extend the warranty to 3 years for a paltry 3500+tax bucks ... I think its a steal.

And the laptop is performing superbly too!!

I have the Sony get the Sony...

You should not miss the Full HD

:p

Also please also note..

Battry backup is very bad..on gaming hardly 1hr 30min or less than that...

else its power full enough running VM(512MB allocated)+AC2+IE+FF+WMP+P.Net etc all at a same tym... and I can switch each of then with ease

Sorry guys was off on a holiday .. so late to reply.

Havent got it yet .. but seems its the sony for now .. couldnt find the msi 640x ....

My idea is basically to play every possible game wht ever the settings be. I usually dont set them beyond medium ( try and keep the frame-rates 40ish).

Hope to put down my review as soon as i get my hands on the machine.

Came across this just now ...

Finally got the Acer Aspire 5740G.

Specs:
# 2.26-GHz Intel Core i5-430M CPU
# 15.6-inch (1366 x 768) display
# 4GB of RAM
# Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

# 500GB HDD

Cost me Rs. 44000/-

Came with additional mouse, headphones, laptop bag and a laptop security cable.

Just got my hands on it. (no pics yet ).

tried out crysis warhead (gamer settings), farcry 2(high/very high) and stalker:CS(Full Enhanced lighting, high) ... all ran smoothly ... approx 35 fps on all the games . Need to update to v10.4 drivers and check again.

Moreover Win7 is so awesome and damn lot faster than vista.
