Tried and tested on my friends locked Sprint iPhone 4s, yesterday night.

So this is what happened. I was contacted by this guy from my city after he saw my ad on OLX regarding the Gevey unlocked iPhones and told me that he had a friend working in Sprint who would put these phones on his line and unlock the phones remotely and faster than anything else we have seen.

So i gave it a go and he got the phone unlocked within 5 minutes. I didn't even have to reconnect the phone to iTunes or restore it becuase my phone was yet not jailbroken. All i had to do was switch it off and on and the phone was unlocked. All in 5 minutes of me giving him the MEID. All he asks for is that phone have a clean ESN.

Now i have seen and bought Sprint iPhones off eBay for as low as $425 in an auction so that translated to less than 30k if i get the phone unlocked from this guy.

Also, obviously he will be willing to give a better rate if i can get him good business. His own words.

So if anyone wants to avail his service let me know. You will have to give up 1 nights sleep because the work is usually done at 2 or 3 in the night.

If a few people show interest i will ask him to reduce rates. i can wait till 5 people want to get their phones unlocked and then ask him to do that together, 1 in 1 day so he gives us better rates. We can see form there.

My friend is very happy, he had got a 64GB from US through his uncle for just 30k and now for 35k he has a factory unlocked 64GB iPhone 4s.

Price he is asking now is 5k.

Well..I dont think its a good idea, coz I know how Sprint works. I have worked with Sprint for last 2 years+ and sooner or later he will be caught..It will be a kid job for any sr boss to find out how many ac's/iPh's he unlocked and it will be locked again.

I am not going to say a NO to all of you, but I had to warn TE members about it. Better spend 5-6k extra and get a factory unlocked ph.

yes would like to add up that one of my friend also unlocked through this method 10-12 months ago, and after few months his phone was mysteriously locked again.. there was also some kind of news on the web regarding these type of services and their disadvantages

I am sorry, but i should have been more clear. He doesn't unlock the phone directly. He activates the phone on his line and then puts in the request to get it internationally unlocked, like a normal Sprint user would do. By working in Sprint, i might have misquoted the guy who contacted me.. Actually the guy in the States who gets it done, deals with Sprint directly or in some way but he is like a seller of Sprint phones. I don't know his exact arrangement with Sprint, but he puts in a request like any normal user would. His requests however are taken care of almost immediately. I had heard that it used to take 3-4 days for those requests to be completed, but in this case it took 5 minutes. Maybe it is the new norm and everyone could get their Sprint iPhones unlocked that quickly.

Anyways i and many of my friends have been using Sprint unlocked phones as are many members here on TE. I don't think they are re-locked once the Sprint user activates another phone on his line. Please can you throw more light on this. I have been using a sprint unlocked phone for quite some time now.

iPhone 4s wasn't even launched 10 months ago.
 
Has the bad esn and good esn anything to do here in the unlocking

Will any future update lock the gsm part

I am intrested in getting my sprint 16gb unlocked
 
Can an iPhone be unlocked without connecting to iTunes ? I don't think so. And after restarting how does one know that it's unlocked ? And why is Meid used instead of imei ?

Yes. Only a good ESN phone can be activated on a Sprint number. Since to put in a request for unlocking, one must first activate the phone on a Sprint customer's no, the phone has to have a good ESN.

My friend just switched his phone off and on and his phone started showing signals for his Reliance SIM. Afterwards he did connect the phone to iTunes and the message, "Comgratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked " popped up. All CDMA networks use MEID and to activate the phone on the Sprint network, which is CDMA, one naturally needs the MEID. In case of all wold phones, the IMEI is just the MEID with one more digit added at the end.
 
Got 4 phones unlocked a few days ago. 2 for my friends and 2 for theapplefan for 4k each.

Phones were unlocked within 5 minutes and just by switching off and on. However sometimes you have to restore the phone, especially if it is jailbroken.

So if anybody wants to get factory unlocked phones for cheap, they can buy good ESN phones off eBay and then get them unlocked this way.
 
Any SIM apart from the GSM providers of US will work on these phones. Usually a seller clearly mentions whether a phone has bad ESN or clean ESN,but just to be sure you can ask the seller about it via eBay messaging service.
