I am gonna buy a new pc for my friend .. Budget 16000/- Here s my finalised configuration

Processor - Core2Duo E7500 - RS. 5050

Motherboard - G31ME-S2L - RS. 2350

ram - 2 gb - RS. 2475

LG DVD-Writer - RS. 1250

MOUSE + KB - RS . 700

----------------

RS . 12,000

He already has the following

Graphic card - ATI 4670

HDD - 240 Gb

So i am looking for the following

Cabinet + PSU

BUDGET ::::: RS. 4000 /-

Any suggestion Please !!

No use spending 5k on C2D as they are outdated. Intel has replaced it with core 2010 series of proccy.

Better go with AMD Platform, Its Value for money:)

But there are two issues here

1. He s on a very very tight budget.. So opting for i3 pro + motherboard would cost him 4000 rs more.

2. He s very sure to buy a 32 bit processors . So no AMD... :(

Who told told you AMD can't run 32bit? AMD Supports 32bit + 64bit. same goes with Intel which supports 64bit with EMT64 in addition to 32bit. FAIL!

K :huh: i was so unaware of it... But no where i have seen AMD 32 bit processors. So pls suggest the addons to the new configuration

AthlonII X3 435 ~ 3.7k
Biostar TA785G3 ~ 3.7k
2GB DDRIII Kingston RAM ~ 2.8k
LG DVD-Writer ~ 1.2k
MOUSE + KB ~ .7k
CM Elite 310 ~ 1.6k/ NZXT Gamma ~ 1.9k
FSP SAGAII 400w ~2k/ Gigabyte Superb 460 ~ 2.2k
Total: ~ 15.5-16.5k

Whats the main usage of the rig? General purpose occasional gaming rig?

s. Its for medium gaming. Can you please suggest Intel . He s more inclined towards intel

Man tell him its going to cost a lot more and the performance gain is negligible if he is admant God save him and the money

Intel is not actually that VFM at this price point. But u can squeeze in 4GB RAM by sacrificing processor performance slightly though. The E5400 is a much better buy than the E7500. They are based on the same architecture.

The E7500 is slightly faster, has a bigger FSB and 1MB extra cache but the price difference of 2k is not justified. It is better to invest them in DDRII RAM as the DDRII prices will increase as DDRIII becomes mainstream and takes over the market.

Intel E5400 ~ 2.9k
Gigabyte G41ME-S2L ~ 2.4k
4GB DDRII 800MHz Kingston RAM ~ 4.9k

LG DVD-Writer ~ 1.2k
MOUSE + KB ~ .7k
CM Elite 310 ~ 1.6k/ NZXT Gamma ~ 1.9k
FSP SAGAII 400w ~2k/ Gigabyte Superb 460 ~ 2.2k
Total: ~ 15.5-16.5k

I heard that on a 64 bit pc running a 32 bit software or playing 32 bit games cause some compatibility problems.. Is that right?

No. Its not related to CPU but with OS Architecture.

Sometimes running 32bit software on 64bit Operating system maybe cause compatibility problems but you can always install 32bit version of OS which would run all the programs just fine.these days there are little or no problems with 64bit, its evolved and issues don't exist anymore. and if you want to use more than 3GB of RAM, 64bit is way to go.

btw, who has been feeding you this crap :bleh:
